Update fails with “can’t be verified” message – this is almost always a result of the system time being incorrect.

If there is no change after an hour or so and the screen, you can try a force reboot yourself

Stuck on “Restarting” during installation – again, give it time to complete.

If all fails, use the Combo Update linked above and run it over the failed installatoin, or restore from a Time Machine backup (thanks to IT Admin for the Safe Mode trick)
